On the left we had to talk to this kiosk worker to aid in our search for the artwork. We also discovered that James Smithson was the benefactor of The Smithsonian Museums with the goal to spread knowledge. (Right) James Hampton's piece was a true pleasure to experience. We each had our own interpretations ranging from the biblical to the more abstract. It taught us how an open mind and accepting ideas broadly as opposed to being too narrow is key to growth. We were also inspired by the creativity of Hampton to use only household cheap items like aluminum foil and old furniture to create this piece. Showing us that even if you lack the usual resources to succeed you can take a different path and still succeed.

We quickly learned that proper museum etiquette involving back packs is to wear them across your stomach, after discussing it with a security guard this is to ensure that someone doesn't accidently knock into an art piece by accident.

George Lucas - A great example of someone with an innovative idea that took off into something never expected. His movie series Star Wars turned into one of the most popular of all time. His creative and innovative way of making movies allowed him to create a movie that has not been able to be recreated and has lead to a multi million dollar industry.
John F Kennedy- He stood strong in his beliefs, and despite the difference in age with his competitors he played to his strengths as a great public speaker solidify his spot as one of the most influential presidents ever. He started the initiative to push education in America and is responsible for funding many technological advancements.

Joe Louis was one of the best boxers of all time, but that's not all. He was a pioneer in introducing people of color to numerous sports and activities along with his utmost support of fighting the Nazis in World War Two. We can learn that just because something is functioning doesn't make it right, or most efficient. Joe Louis would is an excellent example of what an open mind has the potential to do.

(Left) Lillian Moller Gilbreth was a very influential psychologist. She took much influence towards her doctorate by observing the situations caused by her 12 children. This reinforces how some of the best ideas are already out there just ready to be put together.
(Right) President Eisenhower was a strong individual whom served in our nations presidency in some of its hardest hours. He had a staff of individuals whom represented a vast majority of perspectives to gain influence. This demonstrates the importance of collaboration which can be transitioned into business practices such as executive boards. |
